What are the risks on holiday?

Holidays are for letting your hair down. But be aware of the small risk of passing the virus on through unprotected sex where bleeding is a possibility. This can happen during a woman's period, where there are genital sores or blisters or whenever skin may be torn.

Also risky is donating or receiving blood in countries where infection rates are high and blood is not screened for Hepatitis C. Similarly, getting a tattoo/piercing or receiving medical/dental treatment overseas if equipment is not properly decontaminated and when syringes or other equipment may be reused.
